I started this Substack because I wanted to write about the things that I love — namely, good books, good food, and great ideas. Now, more than two years later, I’m continuing to explore these topics, alongside the other things that animate my life, too.

In the Shelf Life section, I share (brief!) reviews of the books I’m reading, offer book recommendations, and otherwise indulge my lifelong love for literature. I’ve always been a voracious reader with wide interests, so there’s no predicting what title I’ll pick up next.

I’ll also be sharing recipes inspired by seasonal produce, upcoming holidays, or whatever I recently served for dinner in Supper Club posts at the beginning of each month. Between a family of great cooks who always prioritized homemade meals and summers spent working in a bakery/cafe during high school and college, I developed a passion for cooking and baking as I grew up. I love trying new recipes, reading cookbooks, and cooking for other people.

You can also expect to hear a little about life in Washington, D.C., ideas I’m mulling over as I earn my M.A. in Government, and assorted “grown-up” things — like getting married and running a household, or hosting a friend’s baby shower, or celebrating holidays on your own for the first time.
